Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and RouterLane ("we", "us"). They cover the RouterLane API, Smart+, the console, and routerlane.com (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you accept them. If you use it for an organization, you confirm you can accept them on its behalf, and "you" means that organization.

1. The Service

RouterLane is an API that accepts requests in the Anthropic Messages, OpenAI Chat Completions and OpenAI Responses formats, chooses a model and a reasoning effort for each task within the tier you name, forwards the request to that model, and returns the answer. Smart+ runs tasks against a copy of your repository on our machines and returns a patch. Enterprise plans include a console for your deployment.

We may change the models behind a tier, the routing rules, and the Service's features. We will tell you by email or in the changelog before a change removes a tier from your plan or breaks one of the supported API formats.

2. Accounts and API keys

  • Keys are issued on request. We may decline or limit a request for access.
  • Keep your keys secret. You are responsible for all use of the Service under your keys.
  • If a key is exposed, tell us at security@routerlane.com and we will revoke it.
  • We may revoke a key that is exposed, abused, or used in breach of these terms.

3. Acceptable use

You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. We may refuse, filter or block requests, and suspend keys or accounts, to enforce it.

4. Plans, prices and billing

  • Usage is priced per tier, per million input, output and cached input tokens, at the rates on the pricing page or in your order. You pay the rate of the tier you called, whichever model answered.
  • Usage is metered per request and billed monthly. There is no subscription fee.
  • Smart+ jobs are billed at Smart rates for every token the job's agents spend, on the request for the turn that started the job.
  • Prices exclude taxes, which you pay where they apply.
  • We may change prices. New prices apply only after we tell you by email.
  • If you think a charge is wrong, write to support@routerlane.com and we will review the request records with you.

5. Limits

Your plan sets the tiers you can call, requests per minute, concurrent requests, and any monthly token or spend cap. Requests past a limit are refused with a 429. We may queue requests when the models are at capacity.

6. Your content

"Input" is what you send to the Service: prompts, messages, files, images, tool results and Smart+ uploads. "Output" is what the Service returns. Between you and us, you own your Input and your Output.

You give us permission to process your Input and Output only to provide and support the Service: to route and forward requests to model providers, cache, filter, log under your retention settings, run Smart+ jobs, meter and bill, keep the Service secure, and help you when you ask. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train models.

You confirm you have the rights needed to send your Input to the Service.

7. Model output

Output is generated by AI models. It can be wrong, incomplete or insecure, and similar Output may be given to others. Review it before you rely on it, and review code and patches before you run, merge or ship them.

8. Smart+

  • When you use Smart+, you direct your client to upload the files git tracks plus new files that are not ignored. Keep anything you do not want uploaded out of the repository or in your ignore rules.
  • You authorize us to install the project's dependencies and run commands, including your tests, against that copy on our machines.
  • The returned patch is applied to your working tree without a commit. You decide whether to keep it.
  • Workspaces are deleted 48 hours after the job.

9. Model providers

The models are run by third-party providers. Their availability can change. We route around failures where we can, but we are not responsible for a provider's acts or omissions.

10. Security

We protect the Service and your data with the measures described on the security page. Our handling of personal data is described in the privacy policy.

11. Suspension and termination

  • You may stop using the Service at any time and ask us to revoke your keys.
  • We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, do not pay, or put the Service or others at risk. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first.
  • On termination your keys stop working. Fees for usage before termination remain due. Data is deleted on the schedule in the privacy policy.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that Output will be accurate.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.

14. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your Input, your use of Output, or your breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date, and email you about material changes before they take effect. Using the Service after that means you accept the new terms.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction.

17. General

If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. A signed order or agreement with us takes precedence over these terms where they conflict.
